Tucked into a lush valley along the Nam Song River, it serves as a convenient stop over between Luang Prabang and Vientiane. However, the overland drive, while incredibly scenic, is filled with hairpin turns and steep climbs – something to keep in mind if you’re prone to motion sickness.

Surrounded by striking limestone karsts, the area offers an exciting range of outdoor activities, from tubing and kayaking to rock climbing, trekking, and cycling expeditions to hidden caves and nearby villages.
